Yakima Valley Credit Union Text Messaging Scam Resurges

BBB has been receiving calls this morning from Yakima area residents reporting that they are receiving scam text messages misusing the name Yakima Valley Credit Union, providing a number of: 856-513-0443 (a Southern NJ area code)—telling people to contact them regarding supposedly unusual activity with their accounts. The SUBJECT LINE of the text message is displaying: “YAKIMA VALLEY UNUSUAL ACTIVITY.”

BBB ADVICE

Protect your personal info. Be wary of any random messages sent to your phone, especially anything to do with finances. Do not click on hyperlinks and do not call the numbers provided. If the message does not pertain to your bank or accounts, delete the message ASAP.

If you have to pay for text messaging, contact your provider ASAP to dispute the charge.
