What is Naming Names about? Ethics and accountability. The Better Business Bureau seeks to advance marketplace trust by holding both BBB Accredited and non-accredited businesses accountable for their actions. Naming Names calls companies out by name for not upholding these standards.

Looking Forward... Tip of
The Month for December

Over the past three years in December, Electronic Equipment Dealers were in the top searches on www.bbb.org. This tells us that people are shopping for techie toys for the holidays. Here’s how to buy smart this holiday season:

  • Research multiple stores’ sales pre-purchase. Flashy signs and major markdowns lead consumers astray when the price isn’t actually marked down at all. Compare prices from multiple stores before purchasing.
  • Understand the return policy clearly. Some stores have a separate return policy for electronics. Check the details – do you need a valid government ID to return or exchange? Does the original packaging need to be intact? Are only exchanges allowed?
  • Check the company’s rating with www.bbb.org. Find local electronics dealers and see their history including rating, complaint history, and customer reviews.
  • Keep your cool on Black Friday. Enjoy the holiday season! Don’t get caught up in the hysteria of discounts. Take a deep breath and feel confident in your purchases.

The following businesses have had 5 or more complaints closed in the month of October:

Naming Names summarizes our region’s complaints for the previous month. Businesses that are called out have either failed to answer consumer complaints filed with the BBB, or they have received a high volume of complaints. We encourage ethical business standards and hold both accredited and non-accredited businesses accountable.

If any Accredited Business does not comply with our standards, the BBB suspends Accreditation and sends their status to the Board of Directors for review. Corrections and clarifications to previous Naming Names are welcome. Please send any questions or comments to info@spokane.bbb.org.
