BBB has received reports about questionable sales tactics by a Spokane area rep for the above mentioned Utah company that is pitching satellite services.
BBB advises the following when approached by a door-to-door pitch for satellite/cable/internet services:
*Check the business' track record first with BBB! Do your homework prior to agreeing to anything or signing a contract.
*"No" means "No." If the rep doesn't take no for an answer, you have every right to end the interaction and demand that they leave your property. If they don't contact your local police department. Make sure you get a physical description of the person and/or their vehicle make and license plate#.
*Ask for physical information on the company such as address, phone, web site. Also, ask for a brochure or other info. If it is a lot to read, ask to have time to read it before making a decision. Any legitimate company will give you time to make a decision.
*Comparison shop deals. If the rep is pushing a deal that sounds too good to be true, question it, and don't make a hasty decision you may regret later.
*Any official employee of a company should have a business card or an ID, Don’t feel high pressured to agree to anything you don’t understand or aren’t getting clear responses to.
BBB ADVICE
Know the Three-Day Cooling Off Period rules from the FTC (www.ftc.gov) about products sold outside of a place of business, in your home. Anyone selling services/installations door-to-door needs to make you aware of the 3-day cooling off period paperwork and explain your rights to cancel within three days of the sale. If they are not adhering to these rules, we urge you to report this abuse to both the company’s headquarters, as well as the FTC. More here: http://tinyurl.com/lym6ss
If you have an unresolved issue concerning this company, we advise you to file formal complaints with BBB at: www.bbb.org as well as the WA State Attorney General's Office at: www.atg.wa.gov
